Catechism Classes
Catechism is an ancient word for a teaching, and the Church through the ages has summarized in its Catechism what it means to be a Christian. In the coming months we plan to offer a course taught by Fr David Phillips on Friday nights from 5-6pm every second Friday (but skipping Holy Week and the Sunday after Easter). It will be based upon the Catechism found on pages 289-296 of the Book of Common Prayer.
Here are the dates for the sessions:
1 Friday 27 January: Introduction to the Catechism, Anglicanism
2 Friday 10 February: Renouncing Evil (the world, the flesh and the devil?)
3 Friday 24 February: Who is God? (The Apostles’ Creed)
4 Friday 10 March: Following God (The Ten Commandments & Great Commandments)
5 Friday 24 March: Praying Always (The Lord’s Prayer)
6 Friday 21 April : The Sacramental Life
7 Friday 5 May: The Church and a Rule of Life
8 Friday 12 May: Conclusion
All are welcome to attend to learn about the Christian faith without necessarily committing to baptism or confirmation. All questions are most welcome! You can attend in person or live by zoom. Please let the priest know if you would like to attend.
