Whatever is honorable,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable,
if there be any excellence,
if there be anything
worthy of praise,
think about these things.

What you have learned and received
and heard and seen in me—

practice these things,
and the God of peace
will be with you.

Philippians 4:8-9

Ascension Study Night: The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri

8pm Friday 17 November, Ascension Anglican Church, Boomberglaan 6, Hilversum

The Divine Comedy is seen by many as the greatest Poem ever written. Dante used images of the afterlife to describe the soul's ascent to God in this life.  Fr David will give an introduction to Dante, to the context for his writing of this work, and to the work itself.  We will consider some highlights in the work, listening to a modern English prose translation, narrated by an actor.  We will wrap up by 9:30pm.  All are most welcome.
